One of the best delivery options in the Russian Hill / Marina area. Food quality seems much higher than most other places.

My experience here started out decent, and continued to get worse and worse as the meal progressed. I started with eggplant as an appetizer, and it was actually really good - cooked well, with a great sauce. I'd definitely be happy to get it again. Waited a bit too long for my entree, Szechuan style tofu. When it finally came out, it didn't taste exactly like szechuan tofu is supposed to - they got the sauce wrong somehow. My friend also ordered a pork dish, and even though there was no indication on the menu about it having anything other than pork, it actually came out with much more tofu than pork! Pretty disappointing. He said it also didn't taste that great. Finally, when we were waiting to leave it took forever to get the check. And then it took ages just to get my credit card swiped. I think this place needs some more staff and some better organization

I work very close by and I happen to order lunch to-go from these guys every 1-2 weeks. I am a fan of the spicy beef noodle soup, although the other dishes I have tried from them were all solid. The only dish that could use a little help are the pot stickers. They are a bit doughy. Other than that the food is delicious, reasonably priced, portions are good and service is fast and very friendly (the woman who usually works the front always remembers me, which is not very common). Solid chinese take-out.

My go-to delivery spot for Chinese (live in North Beach). The food isn't anything to write home about, but it's still good. I do really like their dumplings and pot stickers. What I love about them is that they deliver QUICK. If you live within a mile, you'll usually have your food in 30 minutes or less.

Awesome Tomato Beef Chow Mein!! If we lived in SF, we would come here often. Lunch specials are affordable and filling! Garlic Chicken was especially good with quite a few whole garlic cloves. Mmmm.

A huge disappointment. Noodles with prawns and snow peas had six of each and a gargantuan amount of noodles. The iron skillet steak was soggy and "medium" spicy was overly mild in the noodles and too much in the steak. The "vegetable fried rice" was mere steamed than fried. Excessively expensive for so so food

Sorry Tai Chi, but despite all the good reviews this was No Bueno! I am giving an extra star just because they were nice. I ordered the spicy chicken wings (which were not spicy) and it was just a pile of crumbled, broken up bones. I like to think of myself as sort of a Wing Connoisseur so I was super sad about this. I also ordered the cilantro shrimp dumplings (which sounded delicious) but were also super disappointing. The outside of the dumpling was so undercooked it was gooey and I just had to say something this time. They took it off the bill since it was inedible. Sorry Tai Chi, I really wanted to love thee!

OK, so I DID give it 5 stars (because of the food, NOT the service). As an SF native, I can unequivocally say THIS is the best Chinese in town, bar none. We stopped in for lunch & people who came in AFTER us got their food BEFORE us!! Even worse, MY dish got served to a table 2 tables away & the dummy ATE some of it before realizing it wasn't THEIR's!! Naturally, they removed it and took it back to the kitchen. Meanwhile, my wife eats her food & I wait again for a re-do on mine. Now, ANY other NORMAL restaurant would've apologized and taken MY order OFF the bill, right? Nope, not THESE guys. Waiters pretty much have a grump look on face, and obviously the kitchen DOESN'T know how to do orders in sequence of placement. But, again, the food IS phenomenal, comes to table HOT, and generous portions.

Reliable, consistent quality and pleasant service. I really like their Chow Mein. The noodles are just silky enough with generous spicy notes. A plate could easily go for two. General Tso's Chicken is always popular. GTC has an interesting history. Learn more about The Search for General Tso: bit.ly/1vpXfHf If you order via phone / online, they are to your home quite quickly. And they never forget your order details.

We recently ordered delivery from here for the first time. My parents got a somewhat ambiguous spicy veggies-and-rice dish and an order of the pork dumplings and hong kong style noodles. The noodles were INSANELY good and the other two dishes were just decent. Also, they forgot the sauces and the free pork bun we were supposed to receive cause our order was over $20. ): All together, we dropped $30 including tip. 40 minute delivery time and decent food. I'd definitely do those noodles again, but maybe nothing else.

I'm actually not sure why there are many bad reviews here. This place seriously serves the best Chinese food especially their CHOW MEIN and PORK SIU MAI!!! Never been to the place because we always have our food deliver to us ever since we found out about this place. Delivery is quick, they usually say 45 mins to an hour, but sometimes it only takes 20-30 mins. They have a $15 minimum for delivery which is about the average. I recommend using the grubhub app for getting orders from them! I loooooove how their food are still hot when it arrives and how they really packed the chow mein in the box. Such a small box but it serves 2-3 people. Their food is also not greasy FYI. Lol We order at this place usually once a week and they sometimes give us free stuff like sesame seed balls which is also delicious, fresh and warm! Highly recommend this place for food delivery! :)

What happened to this place? It used to be really good, now it's hit and miss. We used to order from Tai Chi once a week, but the last few times the food quality has been all over the board. Last time it was great. Tonight it was almost inedible and we ended up throwing most of it away. We've called them a couple of times to provide feedback since we really want them to survive, but the quality issues persist. On balance, it's average, and that means that it's soon going to be off our list entirely. A shame really.

My favorite place to get delivery. I have to say I've never been to the actual restaurant, but I've had the best service, food, and experience with the delivery.

Love their chicken corn soup!!! It's super yummy. Also they have great Thai ice tea, one of the best I ever had. Never went inside the restaurant though, we always order for delivery but definitely love their soup

  • Bobby K.

Not bad. Fast and easy. I got the sweet and sour chicken and beef fried rice. You can pass on the fried rice. Its very bland and you really can't taste much of anything. Save your money and grab some of that white rice cause it taste the same lol. The sweet and sour chicken was pretty good. I like that they added green peppers to it. Very large portions so it was good for the price.

Terrible service. Lied about a delivery guy "getting lost" and not showing up almost an hour after the end of the delivery window. Then they said they sent new food and it should be there in 5 minutes, then said that they actually didn't send anyone and they'd make some fresh food to send out. In the end they said to request a refund from Seamless and hung up. What? Never ordering from them again.

This place has such good Chinese food! Everything I've had has been amazing! I definitely recommend the mushu chicken with the pancakes and plum sauce! Super tasty and not expensive! Very quick as well!

Tai Chi is our go-to Chinese delivery place! Delivery is fast, faster than the expected time, and the food comes warm :). I highly recommend their salt and pepper pork ribs and chow mein! Also, if you're a fan of those glazed chicken/pork dishes, get the sesame chicken or sweet and sour pork. Tried their mango and orange chicken before, but they weren't my favorite. General Tso's is okay. The sesame and sweet and sour are really yummy though! (We order from here a lot so I've tried them all haha) They even sometimes throw in some free sesame balls :O. And occasionally a $3-5 gift certificate attached to the to-go bag, yay!

Good, reliable Chinese take out in the Russian Hill area. I'm pretty much a creature of habit when it comes to Tai Chi. We invariably order some combination of hot and sour soup, broccoli and beef, tofu and mushrooms or pork-fried rice and none ever disappoint.

Solid Americanized Chinese food. Service is fast and as a pleasant surprise, the quality of the ingredients and meat seems to have improved in recent months.

I'm very pleased with this Chinese restaurant. Often times I don't get great service at Asian restaurants, but I must say this experience was different. I have nothing negative to say.

Ordered delivery from here tonight. Overall we were really disappointed. It took 90 minutes to get the order. When we finally got it they had forgotten our sodas and had to back and get them. Got everything unpacked and realized that even though we ordered egg rolls and fried wontons they only gave us one sweet and sour sauce and it was small. There was no rice in the order! The generals chicken and the sesame prawns were overly battered and bland. They left the tails on the prawns. The only saving grace was the Mongolian beef, it was very good. Was expecting so much better for San Francisco! The only reason I gave this 2 stars was because the Mongolian beef was so good.

  • Meg N.

The General Tsao's chicken was only decent, and the dumplings were still doughy (not cooked long enough) and gross. They are off their delivery game in a big way. Where are my sauces? My chopsticks? Also, be aware that when you order delivery, rice isn't included with their main dishes. Altogether lackluster. I would skip it.

Ordered takeout tonight. Excited and anticipated my delivery. Waited a while but that's ok. What bugs me most of all is Taichi's Delivery service. They ring you - tell them to dial you and you'll buzz them in and it goes on and on and on. They just don't seem to listen or something but it bugs me. :( Frown Face to that! Ok, moving on. The food was cold - the White Rice was luke warm and the Pot Sticker had a strange bumpy coating that I've never seen or tasted before. It all went down ok but wasn't worth $23.00. Sorry Taichi but you aren't what you were before. Not coming back.

My family and I went to Tai Chi last night and I must say I was not impressed. Although they have updated the appearance of their restaurant the food seems to be on a slow decline. We always order the same thing. Chicken Fried Rice, Kung Pao Chicken, General Tsuo's Chicken, Walnut Prawns and Steamed Rice. The last time we came the experience was not up to par either. They had changed the preparation of some of these items and the food came out cold. I did not write a review then cause I was hoping it was just an "off" night due to the fact they were extremely busy. Last night my experience was much of the same. The food was still prepared in this new way which to me made it far less flavorful. Although, the food was hot this time it just wasn't as good. We drive an hour to eat here and last night it was not worth the drive. They have increased their prices. What used to be a $40 meal for 3 of us is now $56. Between the gas, the cost of the meal, the decline in the taste of food and the waitress staring at me the ENTIRE meal I think it will be quite some time before we visit this restaurant again. Too bad, they used to be 5 stars!

  • Eva D.

Unfortunately, my son loves their chow-mein, otherwise, I would not order from there anymore. Their dishes, like many have said in previous reviews, have slowly declined in quality and flavor. That is a fact. There is a silver lining though, their slow delivery (I've been waiting for almost an hour and a half for my food) and the mediocre food has left me venturing out to other restaurants more often and have found some pretty good ones!! But at this point, I'd rather make my son a Cup-O-Noodle than deal with Tai Chi anymore. Sorry, son.

  • Aleks W.

Literally the best Chinese I've ever had (eat in). It's always steaming hot and the sizes are enormous! We always order too much and the final cost is always underwhelming! We eat here three times a week!

  • Maria P.

I wish I could give negative stars! Absolutely horrible!!! -pot stickers: tasted cold, previously frozen and raw. Sesame chicken: dry lumps of fried crap covered in tasteless goo. Fried rice: just gross no flavor. How do you screw up fried rice?!?? Service is nice though, they're nice people they just need help in the kitchen.

  • Eva N.

I ordered beef chow fun, it was the worse I've ever had. Dish was cold and noodles tasted old. Clearly was not like many other places I've ordered from. This place is declining since changed ownership. Won't come here anymore

Bad customer service. Walked in to have lunch and literally sat there for 5 minutes without anyone assisting me. I did not get water or tea or even asked if I was ready to order. People that came after me were assisted,so I walked right out. Maybe just a bad day, because ive been to this restaurant before and never had that problem.

Horrible service and liers. I ordered dinner tonight. After 20 minutes the delivery time I haven't received anything so I call the restaurant. They tell me the delivery is on its way, it's just late because of traffic (it's monday night...). After 20 minutes still nothing, and then I receive the automatic text message from grubhub saying that the order has just been prepared and it's out for delivery!!!! I received the order 50 minutes later the estimate time, and, as if this was not even enough, my fried rice with beef was just a bowl of white rice with two pieces of beef, 4 peas and 2 pieces of carrots. I ordered from here few weeks back and the order was late too, even though not 50 minutes like this time. I will not order from this place ever again and I really suggest other people to do the same. I even left the tip in advance because I paid with my credit card.

Finally found a restaurant where I can order delicious Chinese take out! Found the restaurant few months back and have been ordering ever since. I usually order 8 pieces shu mai and pork chow mein. Their chow mein is so delicious, I absolutely love it. It's the best take out I've ever had! This place is definitely our go to when my girlfriend & I don't feel like cooking or after a night of drinking. #bestChineseFoodEver

After moving to the US for about a month, i started craving Chinese food, not real Chinese food though, I wanted American Chinese food! I searched up places that serve crab ragoons in SF and found Taichi with some good reviews. We also ordered the beef fried rice, hot and sour soup, sweet and sour chicken and tofu. Crab ragoons were good but could've done with more cheese. I loved the sweet and sour soup though. The flavor was perfect with the right amount of white pepper for a bit of a kick. Everything else was good as expected, especially the beef fried rice. The service was good as well. My water was always filled and they seated us and took our orders promptly. I think this is a good place for a casual dinner with a group of friends or family as they have larger round tables. The portions are quite large so we took a lot of the food home for the next day!

Dear New Ownership, Your prices have gone up +25% across the board and your food quality has gone down +50% across the board. General Tsou's Chicken, your signature dish, is now dry with the incorrect ratio of ingredients resulting in a sour-ish mixture of red sugar sauce instead of what used to be a well-balanced mixture of sour and red sugar sauce. My entire family no longer wants to eat at your restaurant. However, if you fix it, we might be back. Good luck!

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out for delivery last night because our usual spot was closed. To our surprise, this place was great! we ordered the general's chicken, mixed vegetables, hot and sour soup, and the shrimp bao. It arrived a half an hour before the estimated time and it was pipping hot! We were expecting the shrimp bao too be a little weird because it is generally a very fresh dish that can get weird easily but it was very tasty. The chicken was crunchy, the vegetables were fresh, we are definitely going to order here again!

The gf and I used to order from here on the reg because they delivered. We stopped when one of us inevitably ended up w/ Chinese Bathroom Syndrome ('CBS') later that evening. This food is very, very average tasting as it goes.

Tai Chi sorely needs to get its act together on paying attention to customers' requests and delivering its food. I've often had simple requests ignored -- including a cup of mustard, keeping sauce on the side. But it's the spotty deliveries that are most aggravating. Most recently, on a Friday night, I was told to expect delivery in 60 minutes. It took three calls and two hours to get my food. Two assurances that the food would be here soon were false. When the General Tsao chicken, rice, and egg rolls finally arrived, they were lukewarm and my sauce-to-the-side request hadn't been met. If this sort of thing had happened once, it could be overlooked. But that was the second time in a row my food had been grossly late, and these weren't the first times. I've also found that items I asked for were missing on numerous occasions. As for the food itself, I've experienced widely varying results. I've liked the green beans, egg rolls, and kung pao shrimp. The doughy potstickers are unappetizing, and the General Tsao chicken was a bit like saddle leather. I've been strangely loyal to this place for a few years, while the food and delivery service seems to have deteriorated. Next time, I'm trying someplace else.

  • Robert K.

Awful delivery performance and cold food as a result. Don't order for delivery or risk my two hour wait of last night. Chow me in was boring and general Tsao chicken was the worst

  • Britain T.

I ordered online and it too literally two hours to get to my apartment down the street. Also the delivery man took 7 dollars in change and I found eggshells in my chicken. The food was tollerable. The beer was still cold. Wouldn't have paid that much for it though. Wasn't worth it.

  • Katie Anne N.

Wow, did they really change chefs? Tai Chi got a restaurant face lift, however the food is suffering. I used to LOVE the hot and sour soup. After my experience last night, it is pretty obvious their food as changed. The soup smells like Chinese herbal medicine and does not taste quite the same anymore. Their potstickers are so doughy it was hard to bite into. No bueno.

I was craving Chinese food last Saturday, so my friend/soon to be boyfriend Will suggested Tai Chi. We ordered the chicken chow mein, an order of potstickers, chicken fried rice, and sesame chicken--all delicious dishes. The cherry on top--the potions are huge, so one order of something will feed a few people. I will definitely be back here when I am in Nob Hill (hopefully with Will).

  • Gina P.

I am not sure why there are negative reviews for Tai Chi. We have been coming here for over 20 years and while I believe there has been a change in owners they still remain as good as ever. The chicken chow mein was great and the pork fried rice is the best we have had! The general chicken seemed like a different recipe, spicey but good. It remains our favorite Chinese restaurant.

  • Jim L.

It had been a long time since I'd eaten here so I didn't realize it was new ownership. I still ordered general tso's chicken which is what I had craved as it was the best in the city (by the previous owners that is). Unfortunately it was just okay. It was spicy but lacked the crisp and overall flavor of the best they were once known for. Service was fast and clinical, no personality which I'm okay with but won't make a point to return unless it just happens to be very convenient.

Last night my friend took me here for a little dinner and conversation. I have eaten here many times before there remodle and always enjoyed there food. THE Employees are very polite and friendly.up until your order arrives I give them a five star for that! that being said it all goes back to the same experience s of before the remodeling. Food is Good but not great. Many times just way too much sauce. When its time to leave and this is a big one! No more tea, beer or drinks , all is empty , plates finished and still infront of us. its not only been 10,15, or twenty minute but 45min to a hour too get even a glance for the check. Ladies at front chit chatting or taking phone orders...doesnt matter if its buzy or slow... most irrating.. only if you go out of your way can you actually settle up your bill. This is just Ridiculous. Very Disappointing. DATE BREAKER FOR SURE. My friend was on a hour break and wanted to treat me out for dinner, as food excites me.he ended up giving me the bill money because he couldnt wait any longer. Our the server vanished for 25minutes. I waited another 20 .....ughh I drop the service from five to three after food arrives. Best bet is To Go Only from now on!

Got the spicy chicken with basil for dinner Food tasted like hoisten sauce or oyster sauce. Ended up getting food poisoning at 2 in the morning. Puke couple of times and still felt terrible in the morning. Don't eat here.

This is the second time I've eaten here and it's really not good. The first time was okay but this time the tofu was barely cooked so it tastes disgusting and the sauce is extremely thin.

After serving in the Peace Corps in Africa It is pretty hard for me to get sick from eating. Tai Chi Restaurant, however, managed to find a way. I've had amoebic dysentery and malaria before, and am no stranger to the war crimes one's digestive system is capable of... but I'd thought/hoped those days were behind me. Thank god for my old bottle of Cipro. So If you want to commit bathroom genocide worthy of violating the Geneva Convention, Tai Chi is your place.

This place is awful. They're always late on deliveries - some times taking an hour and a half (I live down the street) and whenever you call and ask where it is, they always say the driver is on the road. The driver is obviously not on the road.

My daughter and I ate here both nights we were visiting San Francisco. We enjoyed vegetable potstickers, veggie fried rice and General Tso's tofu the first night. Our second dinner consisted of vegetable eggrolls and three mushroom tofu with steamed rice. Prices were reasonable, our waiter was pleasant, efficient and appropriately attentive. I wish we had a Chinese restaurant like this where I live on the east coast.

what was I thinking? feeling too lazy on a warm sunny Sunday afternoon to walk over russian hill to chinatown, i was craving some beef noodle soup & dumplings. should have trusted my instincts which told me not to go to a chinese restaurant where the menu is completely in english with no chinese characters. we ordered: 1. green onion pancake - crispy, okay but no layers like the taiwanese street food, more like the northern chinese flatbread 2. spicy beef noodle soup - spicy as promised but completely americanized with the addition of carrots - not sure what cut of beef was utilized - taste was okay but once again, did not resemble or taste like the taiwanese dish 3. singapore rice noodles - salty, chicken powder does have a touch of msg - ample portions of chicken, shrimp & fried egg 4. shanghai baby bun - lots of gristle in the meat, tasted funny the only thing which resembled the chinese equivalent was the singapore rice noodle which ironically is an american dish. the redeeming quality of Tai Chi was the service from the waitress. She was polite and took the time to partition out the beef noodle soup into individual portions (service usually only found in higher end chinese restaurants) 2 stars for the food, 4 stars for the service = 3 stars overall my tummy is still churning 6 hrs later from indigestion.

super fast deliver, that was nice. taste was so so but made both my wife and I sick that evening. I am shocked that it had so many good reviews. Really heavy and didn't sit well...in our stomach. We ordered a beef show fun and chicken chow mein.

There is bad and then there is Tai Chi. Ordered grilled salmon and my friend ordered chicken. His food came a full 15 minutes before mine. I finally got deep fried salmon that had been frozen. Dry, horribly greasy. Waitress did not speak English. Harsh fluorescent lighting made for a terrible ambiance. The worst meal I have had in years.

It pains me to write this review as I have been a loyal customer to Tai Chi for over ten years! When I lived in the city, I would eat here numerous times a month, ALWAYS delicious food and I never went anywhere else; even when I moved to the Peninsula I still would make the trek to Polk & Broadway to get the best Chinese food, hands down! When I moved away from the Bay Area I still would go to Tai Chi EVERYTIME I went to the city, it was a given with my family, they knew that within any plans that we had that involved the Bay Area, we would HAVE to go to Tai Chi. I recommended the restaurant to all of my friends and family and everyone loved it! Last year in October, when I went to the City to a concert with some friends, I introduced them to the magic that WAS Tai Chi and they too agreed how delicious it was and the best Chinese cuisine that they have ever had. This past summer, when attending a concert in Mountain View, my friends and I made the detour to San Francisco to enjoy Tai Chi.....here's where the nightmare begins..... Upon entering the restaurant I immediately noticed a change in the décor, the menu's had changed, (horrible grammar and spelling mistakes), and I also noticed the shrine in the back by the bathroom. I thought, okay, this is cute; however when we sat down to our sticky table, I knew something was up. I pulled out a Clorox wipe to wipe down the table, right when our server arrived, she saw what I was doing and looked pissed, but like I'm going to eat on a dirty table and she did not offer to clean the table. This set the tone for the service we received as the server came back and forth with a tight smile and was not very friendly. I ordered my usual chicken fried rice, General's Chicken, and the delicious Garlic Chicken! My friends ordered fried prawns, shrimp fried rice, and kung pao chicken. After a lengthy wait, which I knew was strange because the restaurant was not that busy and usually our food arrives very quickly, a dish was put on the table that looked like mushrooms, and bell peppers covered in a gooey brown sauce. I asked the server what it was and she said garlic chicken, I said "no, this is not garlic chicken," (as the garlic chicken that Tai Chi is famous for is delicious chicken sautéed with garlic and accompanied by wonderful broccoli florets, there is NO sauce on it and definitely NO mushrooms,) I said "is this a new recipe?" And she said "no" and I said, "I'm sorry I don't want this, this is not what I expected." The server grabbed the plate and stalked away. After some time the rest of the food was brought, I immediately noticed the difference in the chicken fried rice, (one of the things I loved about the fried rice at Tai Chi, is that it is not fried too dark, it's actually really light in color,) the rice that was set in front of me was the right color but it had huge chunks of chicken that no one bothered to chop up and it looked really rubbery and had an odd taste to it. My friends had similar complaints about their food , like it did not taste right; one of my friends had come there with me previously and she too even noticed that the food was different. The only thing that tasted the same was the Genera's Chicken; which was great! However, the meal was already ruined for me and I was really disappointed in the horrible service that we received as far as our water not being refilled, having to flag down servers, and having to go ask for boxes and our check. I left the restaurant so disappointed and confused and after seeing the YELP reviews with experiences similar to mine, I understand that the new owners have really dropped the ball and have made a huge FAIL of what Tai Chis USED to be. DEAR NEW OWNERS OF TAI CHI RESTAURANT: NEW PAINT, DISHES, AND SHRINES DO NOT ENSURE THE CONTINUED SUCCESS OF YOUR RESTAURANT, THE DELICOUS FOOD THAT LONG TIME CUSTOMERS OF TAI CHI HAVE COME TO KNOW AND LOVE, DOES! I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU GET IN CONTACT WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND THEIR CHEFS TO TRY AND BETTER UNDERSTAND THE QUALITY OF FOOD THAT PATRONS OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT HAVE GOTTEN USED TO. OTHERWISE YOU WILL CONTINUE TO LOSE LOYAL CUSTOMERS/FANS AND YOU WILL REALIZE THAT ALL THAT MONEY POURED INTO THE DECOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN SPENT ON BETTER INGREDIENTS AND CHEFS. ALSO, BRING BACK THE OLD GARLIC CHICKEN, IT WAS SO DELICIOUS! I AM ONLY ONE PERSON, BUT I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL PATRON TO TAI CHI FOR OVER TEN YEARS, AND I AM SAD TO SAY, I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE. :-(

I ordered delivery, and had the green onion pancake and garlic eggplant appetizers and the general tsao's tofu entree. The green onion pancake and garlic eggplant were decent, but the general tsao's tofu left a lot to be desired. The tofu was airy and the sauce was thin and incredibly spicy. The price was okay, and the delivery time was reasonable.

The only reason why i wont give this place 1 star is because I honestly enjoy the food i order, mostly orange chicken. However, the customer service here is awful! Ive been here many times, and not once does the waiter check on me or my group, i have to get up and ask for things myself or get things i need- its just extemely bad customer service. If this place had amazing customer service, or atleast decent- Id go alot more and give it 4 or 5 stars.

When we last left our wayward chewer, she was digesting some very large pork ribs from this joint. Today I went in for lunch, and as I perused the new menu, I noticed many of the prices have gone up significantly. Sole in black bean sauce, $13.50 from about $10.50 not so long ago. We're all being slammed folks. Vote for you-know-who! I do appreciate that over the years they have been putting energy into beautifying the establishment. It was high time. I'm sure they're doing really well, but this is no longer a cheap lunch (unless you get the cheap lunch plate).

Normally I don't allow myself so much Chinese food, but it was pouring this weekend and I didn't have any real food in the house. After browsing grubhub for a little while, I couldn't find anything else I wanted so for the second time in a week, I ordered Chinese delivery. If you go to Tai Chi's website, their online ordering system directs you to eat24. I'm not sure what the difference is between eat 24, seamless and grub hub, but eat24 said free delivery and had more coupons, so I went with that. I ordered: Eggrolls - 2 stars. Different than any eggrolls I've ever had with a thick, bubbly wrapper. Sizzling rice soup - 2 stars. Still on the hunt for a rival to Little Shin Shin. This was not it. Mushu chicken - 4 stars. Yummy! The plum sauce seemed a little watery though. Sweet and sour chicken - 3 stars. Not bad, but not great. Free gyoza that came with order - 4 stars. Heck yes for free and delicious things. Delivery in about 50 minutes, driver was courteous and professional.

Wow. What is with all the recent fake reviews? Some Chinese restaurant in the area must be pissed that Tai Chi is open again and stealing their business and is trying to defame Tai Chi. First of all, Paolo M., know your facts first before you make a statement saying that a restaurant closed because of health code violations. The restaurant was sold to a new owner because the most recent owner, Chris, RETIRED from Tai Chi and they were closed for renovations. In fact, the original long-time Tai Chi chef who took a 2 year hiatus has been brought back by the new owner, hence the renewed deliciousness. We got take out there tonight and it was like having the old Tai Chi back. We ordered our usual General Tsao Chicken, green beans, and it was perfect. I also didn't get a post MSG headache!! woohoo! Portions were huge - we even had leftovers. Excited to have our favorite go-to Chinese comfort food open again!

The food is good--- my main issue is the time it takes to get my food. On several occasions I have ordered and it has taken 90-120 minutes for it to arrive! Their online ordering timeline says 45-60 min. Unbelievable

Hunan Mongolian Beef - This was very good Mongolian Beef with very fresh ingredients. It could have been a touch spicier but that is a mild complaint. Hunan General Tso's Chicken - The Tso's Chicken was excellent and it was a very large portion of all chicken. I really enjoyed it. Like the beef, I would not have minded it being a touch on the spicier side. If it had been, it would probably of been the best General Tso's chicken I've ever had. Steamed Rice - Light and fluffy. My fortune was "An admirer is too shy to greet you."

This landmark place has NEW OWNERS and Tai Chi is NOT THE SAME! Time to find a new & great chinese restaurant in our Russian HIll area - 3 dishes ordered and all disastrous! What a shame after the food being so special since 1978! HELLO NEW OWNERS - good bye from many of us! Shame be to the new owners who think they can rip off we who have supported the former Tai Chi!

Like others have noted, there must have been a chef change here. I didn't know that - the place isn't HORRIBLE now, but it's your pretty standard Americanized Chinese spot now. Why did I order from here before?...The Oyster Sauce Beef dish. Growing up, my grandma would make this for me, and Tai Chi's used to taste EXACTLY like her's. I have never found a place that made Oyster Sauce Beef that tasted as good as her's except for Tai Chi. The velvety texture of the beef, covered in sauce on top of some rice. Now no more. No more, "just like grandma used to make." It was a dish I could order to bring me back - a warming, comforting dish. Now that it doesn't exist any longer I wish that I had paid closer attention to how my grandma made it.

YIKES -- 20% PRICE INCREASE! Tai Chi Restaurant has been my go to takeout restaurant for years now and I order from Tai Chi at least twice a week. I've always appreciated the good food and reasonable prices. No longer. I had quite a shock tonight picking up my order -- Tai Chi has increased prices 20% across the board -- a major jump. A 5% or 10% increase to keep up with the cost of living I can understand. But 20%? That's too much. It's too bad. I predict this will cost them an equal amount of business. Time to find another restaurant for takeout.

I had an array of the vegetarian options but the star dish for me was the Vegetarian Chow Mien. The noodles weren't dry or overly greasy and lots of bigger cut veggies, slather it up in hot chili oil and soy sauce and you're good to go! I'd also recommend the vegetarian potstickers they are fluffy with a great crunchy fried texture.

Was craving Chinese food.. So I yelped around the area saw the reviews and went to try Tai Chi. I order two lunch specials Beef Tofu and Chicken w/ Mushroom and broccoli: All the dishes looked the same like they just threw in a ton of soy sauce! Where is the flavor of the chicken or beef or the vegetable? lunch came with a hot & sour soup: The soup was dark from the soy sauce and the flavor was just black peppers for the spice also the soup was cold!!!! So disappointing...

I've been enjoying Tai Chi since I moved here in the 80's but they've changed hands and are really going downhill. The last four times I've ordered for delivery at a specific time (like ordering at 4:00 for delivery at 6:30) they've not read the order and delivered as soon as they got the order. They've been nice about it and redelivered but still..... And the food's just not as good. Egg rolls have little meat in them and the crust is soggy. Seems the amount of and quality of the meat in entrees has been reduced a lot. Too bad because Tai Chi was an institution of quality. Not any more. Two stars now. Not awful but there's much better out there now.

Fast delivery even on a weekend. Kung pao is hot hot hot. Hot sour soup was wonderful. I should have gotten rice to absorb some of the heat of the Kung pao but its great anyway.

Tai Chi has delicious food that tastes way more healthy than all other chinese deliveries I have had. They are prompt and fairly inexpensive. We order the BBQ Pork Fried Rice, General's Chicken an Chicken Egg Rolls. It's really good and only $25. Give it a shot .

Food was tasty, but I'm 2/2 on painful food poisoning. Those are not the odds I like to play with. I want my sick hours back.

Delivery was fast. Food was great. We had Chinese curry, orange chicken, sweet & sour chicken and potstickers. Very very good food. We were all stuffed & happy. They even allow you to ask for paper plates and plastic ware. Would recommend! They delivered to us at the Ritz Carlton San Fran.

I was in the mood for some good ol' chinese food. Being new to the area, we weren't sure where the heck to order from for delivery. We searched google, and sorta grub hub, and randomly selected this place. Pretty awesome. On our menu: Won Ton Soup Veggie Chow Fun Chicken & Green Beans Hunan General Tso's Chicken I loooved the chicken & green beans. full flavored, cooked perfectly, sauce was just the right thickness. And when asked "how spicy", they actually know what spicy means, so one dish was super spicy to me lol, but the bf loved it and loved the fact that they knew what spicy is. quickly delivered, and reasonable price. hopefully another star to come when we try it again down the road.

This is my favorite Chinese delivery place. I've never eaten in, only gotten delivery. It's exactly what you want when you think standard classic Chinese dishes you grew up eating. Great general tsaos chicken, chow mein, egg drop soup. Delivery has never disappointed.

My favorite Chinese place. Why not 5 stars? Taste has been too hit or miss and the recipes have changed (switched from dark meat to white meat in their chicken fried rice). Had them 2 days ago they seemed to be back on track, but still miss their old prep.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
